Blake didn't pick up taxidermy. He grew up inside it.
Blake Wilson grew up in Spruce Pine, Alabama, raising ducks, geese, and swans from all over the world with his family. Knowing how a bird actually lives is the difference between a mount and a memory.
01 Background
Blake's story
Blake has studied their behaviors and habitat most of his life and still raises birds today to use as live reference. Waterfowl has always been his primary interest. Blake is an avid waterfowl hunter and travels all over to collect different types of specimens.
While on one of these hunting trips in the fall of 1997, Blake met world-renowned taxidermist, David Luke in Arkansas. That meeting resulted in the beginning stages of Wings Over Water Studios. Blake spent time working with David in 1998 and since then has participated in many competitions at the Master's level and has won numerous awards.
Blake has become widely known for his expertise, knowledge, and quality of work. Blake's career is also his passion and he looks forward to working with you on your trophy bird of a lifetime.
